One common misconception about lip fillers is that they produce permanent results, when in actuality lip fillers usually last anywhere from six months to a year, and will likely require touch-up procedures to continue to see the desired results. The specific time they last will vary, as stated, and will depend on a person’s metabolism– a faster metabolism will break the filler down quicker, while a person with a slower metabolism will likely see their results for a longer time. How long fillers last will also depend on the amount and the type of filler you get. It should be noted that fillers do have unsafe amounts for individuals which providers will not allow for. It is very important to consider these factors when opting for lip fillers as it will be a large determinant of the cost of your initial, and follow up procedures.
Following your lip filler procedure, the lips and filler itself are very sensitive and will require extra precaution, and there are simply some things to avoid completely to not damage the area. For one, puckering and straining the lip area can disturb the area and potentially cause damage. This also means that actions such as drinking from straws, facial massages, and related actions are also advised against immediately following the procedure. It is also best to avoid strenuous exercise, spicy foods, and hot drinks as they can also contribute to negative consequences following the procedure.
Additionally, people should avoid drinking alcohol and smoking following the procedure as they both will lengthen the healing process, increase swelling and bruising, and can give way to infection. Your provider will give you similar advice on what to avoid, and will likely recommend avoiding these actions for approximately 24-48 hours following the procedure. By avoiding these, you are actively contributing to making your lip fillings last longer while staying safe in the process.
Lip fillers can typically last anywhere from six months to a year, depending on the rate at which an individual’s body metabolizes the filler and the same applies to touch-up or follow-up filler procedures. In regards to when lip fillers metabolize, it is commonly thought people are left with sagging skin, however, this is not the case. When the filler wears off, your lips will return to their original shape and size before the procedure.
It is also good to know that the filler results will become very apparent and begin to set in around two or three weeks after the initial procedure, however, it is important to care for your lips by following provider instructions within the first couple of weeks post-procedure. This will help ensure that your fillings last as long as possible and mitigates the chances of a botched, or damaged outcome. Finally, any questions that may arise regarding the procedure are best directed to the provider as they are specialists who can offer individualized advice for your specific circumstance.
Unfortunately, there is not one definitive price for lip fillers as there are many aspects the price depends on. The range of cost, however, is typically anywhere between $500 to $2,000. It does remain that location and expertise play a significant role in the price of the procedure for lip fillers. More populated and higher cost-of-living areas will generally have a greater cost for the procedure, and similarly, a more experienced provider will likely charge more.
Additionally, the amount of filler required will certainly affect the price, along with the type of filler– a higher amount of filling used is sure to cost more while many dermal fillers have unique properties that patients can opt for if they find the price reasonable. It is also not a bad idea to check up on any fees that a certain provider might have as it is highly recommended that you are aware of them.
